FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I choose Glamour Cosmetics?

While making sure you have flawless makeup is our first priority, it’s not the only thing we care about. We want you to know that we take everything into consideration as we’re by your side on the wedding day. We care about your fears, frustrations, and desires--not only when it comes to your makeup--but your entire experience as you get ready on your wedding day.

We feel strongly that our job goes beyond just applying your makeup. We strive to be there for the little things that come up. We’ll remind you when your hair elastic is on your wrist during photos, we’ll hold your grandmother's hand as she walks down the stairs, we can sew your bridesmaid back into her dress if it rips, and we’ll even drive you to the venue should your limo go missing. (Yes, these are all real life examples of how we've stepped up in the past!) On your wedding day, you can consider us your second pair of hands and eyes. It’s just an added bonus that we also happen to know how to apply makeup really well! ;)

Can I choose my artist?

We do our best to match up each of our clients with the best makeup artist for their big day so we will hand select the perfect member of our team for each bride.

However, if you are interested in working specifically with Garineh you do have that option. If that is the case, please inquire ASAP in order to secure your wedding date due to the high demand on her availability.

You can inquire by filling out our contact form here and we’ll be in touch with our availability via email within 48 hours.

Do you offer airbrush makeup?

In our professional opinion, airbrush can tend to look dull and/or grey, and is not versatile enough to provide the variability of coverage that a client may need or want.

With so many amazing foundations these days, airbrush just doesn’t measure up! For that reason, our team prefers to use traditional foundation to achieve our signature looks. Trust us, traditional foundation is the way to go!

Our application technique and high quality products will help your makeup last all night long, while still allowing your skin to look like skin, and not look or feel "cakey." Come for a trial, and find out what we mean!

Will my makeup last all night?

Absolutely! Our professional application technique combined with the highest quality products will ensure that you will look just as good at 2pm as you do at 2am! But don't just take our word for it, let our past bride's reviews answer this question for you:

"I may have gotten married on the hottest day of the year, but my makeup stayed put all day and all night..." - Lauren

"Our skin was flawless and lasted all through the night--huge plus if you have a bridal party of dancing machines!" - Amanda

"My makeup also lasted all day and night (12+ hours) which I was very impressed by!" - Hillary

"My bridesmaids all looked incredible and cohesive, everyone complimented our makeup all night. Even at the end of the night because it still looked stunning despite the hours of dancing!!" - Jenna

Do you travel for weddings outside of New England?

Yes! We take a select number of destination weddings each year and have been honored to provide bridal service in locations such as Turks and Caicos, St. Lucia, and Germany!

If you’re traveling for your wedding and want Glamour Cosmetics to be your makeup artist, be sure to reach out early. Click here to fill out our contact form and inquire.

How far out in advance should I reach out?

It's best to inquire ASAP once you have a date confirmed! We typically book a year to a year and half in advance. That being said, don't hesitate to reach out if you need us last minute! We've been honored to have "saved the day" more than once!

Do you only do makeup? Can you recommend a hairstylist if I need one?

Yes, we specialize in bridal makeup only. However, we have a list of incredible hairstylists whose work we stand behind if you need one.

It’s not required that you work with on of the stylists on our list, but we know that if you do, they will take care of you as well as we do--and that’s exactly the type of experience we want all of our brides to have!

Is gratuity included?

Gratuity is not included, but is greatly appreciated! Feel free to tip your artist during your trial and/or on your wedding day. Suggested gratuity is 20% of total for services booked.

What products do you use?

We have a makeup bag that rivals the shelves of Sephora to ensure that we have the perfect product to create the desired look for each client’s skin type. Some of our faves are Chanel, NARS, Dior, Laura Mercier, and Charlotte Tilbury

Do you charge travel costs?

We have a minimum travel fee of $75. Travel will be calculated at $2 per mile fee, one way from Boston. For example, if your location is 50 miles one way, your total cost for travel will be $100. Travel fees are calculated per artist. (Travel fees do not count towards minimums.)

  • Travel to Newport is a flat rate of $200.
  • Travel to Cape Cod is a flat rate of $250.

Should I get a trial? If so, when?

We’re honored that most of our brides book us first, and then schedule a trial after the contract has been signed. However, if you would feel more comfortable scheduling a trial prior to booking, we’re happy to accommodate you. Simply fill out our contact form to get in touch.

And yes, we highly suggest a trial prior to your wedding for multiple reasons. First, this allows us to learn and understand your skin type so we’ll know what products work for you prior to your wedding. It is a trial for us just as much as it is for you!

Secondly, it will also allow us to suggest any services we feel might benefit your skin prior to the wedding to ensure that your makeup looks as flawless as possible. And finally, it will ease any fears or uncertainty you have about how your makeup will look (and how long it will last) on your wedding day.

Typically trials are booked from the Dec-March prior to your wedding season. So if you’re getting married next September, you’ll want to schedule your trial for the winter/spring beforehand.

For planning purposes, how long does it take to do everyone's makeup?

Brides typically take approximately 60-75 mins for makeup and each attendant takes 45 mins. This also includes sanitation in between each client.

Keeping you on schedule on your wedding day is incredibly important to us. Once we know your ceremony time and what time you need to be done with makeup, we’ll work backwards to determine a start time for services. We’ll be happy to provide you with a makeup timeline so that you can ensure everyone is on the same page about who needs to be where, and when.

Do you only do bridal makeup?

While bridal makeup is a majority of the work we do, we also offer:

  • Commercial, editorial, film, print, and runway makeup. To learn more about that, visit our editorial page here.
  • Special occasion makeup for your bridal shower or other important special events
  • Makeup for other types of photoshoots such as: engagement, maternity, and branding shoots.
